ANALYZING CULTURAL CIRCULATION IN SEOUL STATION
ANALYZING CULTURAL CIRCULATION IN SEOUL STATION
Seoul, South Korea
This research is the result of a three-day urban research workshop in Seoul (conducted July 2018), with an emphasis on retail, commercial, and cultural exhibits within Seoul Station. With over 50% of the total population of South Korea living within a 1-hour travel radius (by train) of Seoul, Seoul Station is a critical urban node to understanding density, capacity, and capital circulation. Key to this study is an analysis of different speeds at which people pass through Seoul Station, in conjunction to "touch points" where people might interface within the station. This forms a conceptual basis for possible future interventions throughout Seoul's transit hubs.
